Aniara

Earth is in disrepair and no longer inhabitable. The human race begins to leave the planet for a new home on Mars. Aniara is one of the departing spaceships but gets damaged beyond repair when encountered with a field of space wreckage. The ship is drifting powerlessly out of control and both the crew and passengers struggle with the reality of their fate. On board, crewmember Mimaroben operates a special installation in which people can relive idyllic memories of their lives on earth. When all hope and common sense evaporates, the pressure on Mimaroben increases as her installation is the only thing that keeps the madness and lethal depression at bay. This poetic and visually overwhelming space odyssey from Sweden is based on the epic poem by Nobel Prize-winning author Harry Martinson.
