Memmetaal Panels: Investing in Regional Film Culture

How far can the rise of regional film initiatives go if a long-term foundation hasn’t been laid? In this session, funding bodies, institutions, investors, and creators discuss what is required—and what must be sustained—to transform individual initiatives into a rock-solid infrastructure. Especially in times of political instability and mounting pressure on the cultural sector, it remains crucial to keep the horizon in sight—and to be able to pave the path toward it.

NHLStenden: European Student Shorts

Around 90 students from five European higher education institutions will visit Leeuwarden during the week of the film festival. They are here to explore the European film industry and—guided by professional coaches—create their own short films in just four days. These shorts will be screened on Friday afternoon as part of the Noordelijk Film Festival. The participating students come from various European colleges and universities.

Masterclass: Behind the Story

In this masterclass, international music supervisor Laura Bell uses The Kidnapping of a President to guide us through the process of music supervision. She discusses the search for and selection of music, licensing, the development of a film score, and the collaboration with filmmakers and composers.

Case study: The Secret of Shorts

How do you ensure that a short film is not just made, but also finds its audience and makes an impact? In this case study, moderated by Rinskje Raap, we speak with Ugnė Pilkionytė of Think-Film Impact Production and Federico Fasulo of Gorilla Distribution about the various steps involved in successfully creating, distributing, and promoting a short film.
