The Unpromised Land

Sweden: the land of beautiful nature, social welfare and infinite tolerance. Not according to director Victor Lindgren. With this critical Swedish drama he shows the cracks in that idyllic image. Sabina traveled with her brothers from Romania to Holmsund. With her pitch-black hair and colored skin, she stands out among the tall, blonde Scandinavians that don't particularly warm up to her. Elin, born and raised in Holmsund, feels like a stranger in her own family. An unconventional friendship develops between the girls who both, in their own way, feel out of place in this peaceful little town. The circumstances in which Elin and Sabina get to know each other may be tough, but their friendship is light-hearted and movingly recognizable.
