A vibrant and colourful Romeo & Juliet story, based on real events taking place in Sweden’s 1940s. Two rivalling families both run an amusement park in Stockholm, with exciting rides, shows and attractions. Where Gröna Lund is the respected, bourgeois park, Nöjesfältet offers cheap beer, strippers and run-down attractions. Determined to destroy each other, the two families are fighting a bitter war. In the meanwhile the heirs of the families, John and Ninni, unexpectedly fall in love. In the shadow of the Second World War the conflict escalates between the families in a magical and swirling tale of war, treachery and forbidden love.

Directors Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein (creators of The Bridge) have been working together since they where fifteen years old and don’t believe in doing things gradually. Swoon is the kind of film that is not afraid of being kitsch. With over-the-top entertainment, this visual panache, with a bit of Scandinavian reserve, echoes the magical realism of Baz Luhrman.
