Før frosten

Denmark, 1850. Winter is coming and the old farmer Jens and his family are facing starvation. With the prospect of yet another harsh and merciless winter Jens makes the unbearable choice to arrange a marriage for his daughter with the son of the neighbours. But when a wealthy farmer from the area wants to buy his land, Jens sees another possibility for an even better future. Før Frosten (before the frost) tells the heartbreaking story of a farmer in 19th century rural Denmark whose hard decisions will forever influence the fate of his family. A dark but moving Danish drama by award-winning director Michael Noer (of R, Nordvest and Papillon).
