The Wild Man of the North

Can an old man from the Norwegian Woods remind us of what we have forgotten about ourselves? Farmer, teacher, poet and musician Jimmy Øvredal lives close to nature and in connection with the birds, trees and mythical creatures from the Norwegian folklore. He reads nature instead of the Facebook newsfeed and other media. On the way to his cabin, he pets the trees, talks to the raven flying over his head and the Nix in the lake. Does the eccentric Jimmy has a profound understanding of our connection to nature? Could it be that the rest of the world has gone mad and he has the key to a happy life? Without moralizing, he’s stating the obvious in this poetic documentary: how we are removing ourselves from nature, and what’s at stake in doing so.
