The Dashed Lines

When fifty-year-old Bea’s marriage falls apart and she is on the verge of leaving the home where she has lived for twenty years, she discovers an uninvited guest. Sleeping in her bed is 28-year-old Denís, a young trans man struggling with job insecurity and a lack of prospects. Instead of calling the police, Bea decides to lend him a listening ear. What follows is a three-day encounter filled with music and surprising conversations. Set against the backdrop of Galician shipyards, an unlikely bond forms between two people from vastly different generations. The Dashed Lines is, in a sense, a dual coming-of-age story; it shows—without judgment—that a fresh start is possible at any age and that even the smallest gestures can hold profound significance.

The Dashed Lines is the second feature film by director Anxos Fazáns and premiered last year in the main competition at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. It won multiple awards at the Gijón International Film Festival, including the DAMA Award for Best Screenplay for a Spanish Film.
