Dive – Rituals in Water

For the past 25 years, Snorri Magnússon has been giving swimming lessons to babies and their parents. The swimming lessons provide a sense of connection and community for the young parents navigating the beginnings of parenthood. The run down pool, sat by the ocean and the mountains on the outskirts of Reykjavík, changes into a whole new world during the creative lessons of Snorri, full of songs, stories and sounds. In the crystal clear water, he uses radical and unconventional techniques, immersing babies like little seals and balancing them in the palms of his hand. He is convinced that no child is too young to swim. Endearing Icelandic documentary about the first stages of human life and a profound analysis of pregnancy, birth and physical touch.
