Victorian Psycho

Victorian England, 1858. Governess Winifred Notty arrives at the remote estate of Ensor House. At first glance, she seems like a perfect addition to the household. But behind her neat attitude lurks a woman with a macabre past and a hunger for the unthinkable. While she teaches the children table manners, one staff member after another begins to disappear without a trace. The first sinister discovery is made and the estate owners begin to wonder who they actually invited into their home. Victorian Psycho is a gothic mix of biting black humour, horror and gore. This sharp, over-the-top look at revenge on the patriarcy delightfully pokes fun at hypocrisy and is a must-see for any lover of dark satire (and blood).

Victorian Psycho is the third feature film by director Zachary Wigon and an adaptation of the highly populair 2025 novel of the same name, written by Virginia Feito. Maika Monroe (It Follows, Longlegs) is on fire as the governess, alongside Thomasin McKenzie (Last Night in Soho), Ruth Wilson and Jason Isaacs. The film premiered this spring in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, and will have its Frisian premiere at the Noordelijk Film Festival.
