The Seer and The Unseen

Intriguing documentary about grandmother and 'seer' Ragga. She is known for her ability to communicate with a parallel realm of elves or huldufólk (hidden people). A cultural phenomenon over half of the Iceland believes in. As one of the country’s most respected seers, government officials, businesses and individuals hire Ragga to consult the elves to learn where they can and cannot develop land. And then a road has to be built, just one of the many needless projects spurred by Iceland’s sensational financial meltdown in 2008. The road will destroy an ecologically important lava field and unseen elf sanctuary. Together with environmentalists and other believers, Ragga enters a political battle. With this heroic fight, the film explores the power of faith and the far-reaching, real consequences this can have on society.
