The Hensen Brothers had been playing with the idea for a long time, to make a short film with a mystical touch, shot in their home province of Friesland. In April 2020, they won our Filmkick Competition with their film plan and script and could finally make the film. The result is a unique and original animation film, which will premiere at this Noordelijk Film Festival! 

About the film 
Steengoed is set in the fictional Frisian village of Wijtsum, where a milkman delivers milk every day. On this day, however, something is definitely off with the milk and the village will never be the same again...

About the Filmkick
With the Filmkick, the Northern Film Festival wants to challenge the regional film culture and stimulate talented home-grown filmmakers in their work. The prize money of €10.000 is made possible by the Province of Fryslân.

Love isn't always easy, but sometimes it's harder than it should be. This Audience Award-winner of the renowned Venice Film Festival is an atypical action thriller about Jaakko, a blind man with MS. He loves Sirpa, even though they have never met, they talk every day over the phone. When Sirpa is struck by shocking news, Jaakko is sure: he must visit her. Tightened to his wheelchair, he just needs to rely on the help of five strangers in five places: from home to taxi, from taxi to station, from station to train, from train to taxi and finally from taxi to… her. What can go wrong? Jaakko is played superbly by Petri Poikolainen, who has MS himself and is an old friend of director Teemu Nikki. Nikki’s films are definitely different every time, but familiar to our festival: his well-received film Euthanizer was screened at our festival in 2018 and another film of his is screened at this year’s festival: Nimby.
