Omschrijving

Nikki Manuputty's father grew up in the Moluccan camp Schattenberg, better known as the former camp Westerbork in Drenthe. His father, like thousands of others, came to The Netherlands as a former KNIL soldier. Most Moluccans in this camp are Christian, and the family belongs to the Muslim minority. This creates some friction, therefor most Muslim Moluccans moved to their own camp in Friesland: Wyldemerk. Nikki's grandfather, however, does not want to move and remains the only Muslim with his family in Schattenberg. In this short documentary Nikki tries to find out why he made that choice and whether her feelings of exclusion and not fitting in stem from this. Waarom niet naar Wyldemerk? (Why not go to Wyldemerk?) was directed by Anne van Slageren and is a production of Stichting Beeldlijn in cooperation with Omrop Fryslân.

Omschrijving

Joseph Schijveschuurder was two years old when he came from Amsterdam to live with the Frisian hiding family Veenstra in Bolsward. It was a warm nest where he felt at home. After the war, however, he was placed with a troubled family in Amsterdam. Joseph resisted and felt displaced. At seventeen he was exiled to a remote corner of the DDR. A difficult life followed. Yet he found love and started a family. But the consequences of his displacement haunt him to this day in Dresden. Joseph cannot sleep. The documentary Nearne Thús (Home Nowhere) is by director Annet Huisman, documentary maker at FryslânDOK. It shows Joseph's son Mario, who seventy-five years after the fact finds revealing clues about the course of events surrounding his father in the archives of the committee for war foster children.
