Swedish businessman Tomas and his Norwegian wife Ebba stay with their two children Vera and Harry at a luxury resort in the French Alps, in an effort to bring Tomas closer to his children. One afternoon, while the family is having lunch in their ski gear on an outdoor terrace, a controlled avalanche occurs. The snow clouds appearing give the impression that the avalanche will hit the terrace. Panicking, Tomas makes a run for it in search of safety, while Ebba tries to protect the children. This incident exposes more in Tomas' and Ebba's marriage than either of them would like.
