The 43rd edition of the Noordelijk Film Festival!

From 8 to 12 November, it’s time for the 43rd edition of the Noordelijk Film Festival. Like every year, we will keep our familiar Nordic Focus while adding this year’s side programme Memmetaal, among others. The theme is ‘Home’.

About the festival

The Noordelijk Film Festival is a five-day film festival in Leeuwarden that takes place every year in November. Every year, the festival sells around 20,000 tickets. Ticket sales start this year on Wed 26 Oct. Also this 43rd edition, Stadschouwburg De Harmonie is the vibrant festival heart and an online offer will be available. Around November, 200 people work on the event, including 180 volunteers.

Connecting

The NFF stands for hospitality and inclusiveness: we want everyone to feel welcome and accepted with us. And also for special encounters, for example between established filmmakers and up-and-coming talent in a master class or at the subsequent networking drinks. The NFF has many long-term collaborations, both within the team (returning volunteers) and with partners (main venue De Harmonie), funds, sponsors and subsidisers. As an organisation, we are interested and involved with de mienskip.

Nordic focus & side programmes

The festival is distinguished by a focus on Northern European cinema, from the UK to Russia. A strong selection of the latest feature films and documentaries from this great northern region shares the screen with promising films from its own region.

With the Noorderkroon competition and Industry programme, it provides a stage and a stepping stone for professional talent. There are also several side programmes, Film & Food, NL Eigenzinnig, Junior and, of course, the school performances return this year. New this year is the Memmetaal section (on minority languages).
