Oscar winner Martin McDonagh brings the two actors of modern classic In Bruges (Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson) to his homeland of Ireland for The Banshees of Inisherin. Against the background of a beautiful landscape, a tragicomic character study unfolds about the rift between two old friends.

The year is 1923, on the fictional island of Inisherin, off the west coast of Ireland. The grumpy Colm abruptly ends his long friendship with Pádraic. In his own words because he simply no longer likes the simple soul. Tension between the two men drives a wedge in their closed island community and things quickly go from bad to worse. What follows are dryly comic developments, razor-sharp dialogues and many pints of Guinness – although it’s difficult to make a toast when your best friend suddenly sits down at a different table.
