The Albanian Virgin (IFA presents)

Albania, 1958. Luana and Agim's friendship grows into teenage love, but one without any prospects. As the daughter of a respected man from their village, Luana is forced to marry someone else. Luana will not give in to her fate without a fight and then does everything she can to be able to make her own choices, even if it leads to a lonely existence.

A gripping drama about a love that is burdened by the weight of old traditions. With it, director Bujar Alimani tells a story about a universally shared desire for freedom.

The screening of The Albanian Virgin at the Northern Film Festival is presented by IFA, the International Film Festival Assen. IFA is the only film festival in the Netherlands to put women in film centre stage.
