Northern Ireland, 1994. Following a historic ceasefire, tentative steps toward peace are being taken, yet close friends Vinny and Jonty have other things on their minds. Having grown up in Enniskillen—a town made infamous by a deadly 1987 IRA attack and dubbed ‘Skintown’ by its cynical residents—they dream of freedom and adventure. Determined to escape the mundane, they set a reckless plan in motion that will turn their futures upside down. Set to an electrifying soundtrack, Skintown captures the heady rise of 90s rave culture alongside a sharp-eyed portrait of a young generation. The result is a nostalgic coming-of-age story that pays tribute to their resilience, bond, and enduring sense of humor, proving that the dance floor can be a sanctuary even in uncertain times.

Skintown is the latest film from director Kieron J. Walsh—known for the drama Jump (2012), among others—and premiered this summer at the 79th Edinburgh International Film Festival. It made its Dutch debut in October as part of the ‘Emerging: Selections’ program at the Leiden International Film Festival.
