Norwegian Dream

Robert is a Polish immigrant worker, Ivar is the adopted black son of Robert's boss. On Norway's rugged coast, these two young men struggle with issues of cultural displacement, economic inequality and sexual identity. Trying to save his mother from debt, Robert finds work in a fish factory outside Trondheim, amid a small community of immigrants. He is taken in by Ivar, who has bigger dreams than working in the family business. The two are drawn to each other and their friendship slowly develops into more. When a strike breaks out at the factory, Robert's relationship with Ivar and his loyalty to his colleagues are put to the test.

Norwegian Dream, a coming-of-age drama set on the beautiful but grim Scandinavian landscape, is director Leiv Igor Devold's first feature film. It illustrates the reality of immigration and diversity in Norway, within the many overlapping lines of class and culture.
