Johnny believes everything is fine with him, but he soon discovers that’s not the case. By avoiding confrontation, he drifts further away from reality. Unable to talk about his childhood and mental struggles, and denying his emotions, he loses his loved one and becomes isolated.
In a surreal dream world, he embarks on a hectic, sometimes terrifying journey. He runs through endless corridors, is chased by friends who turn into demons, repeatedly ends up in the same doctor’s office, realizes his worldview is shaped by alter egos, and sees the woman he’s searching for everywhere—yet can’t reach her.
When Johnny literally fights with himself, he is confronted with the truth: he wasn’t searching for her, but for himself. By facing his feelings, reality slowly returns—though he understands that healing is a longer process.
The film tells the story of Sem, a student from Groningen who fell into depression during his teenage years and, with the unwavering support of his mother, has managed to recover somewhat in recent years. With his mother no longer able to support him and no one left to talk to, he begins to contemplate suicide. The central question: can he still fight back, or is it already too late?
