Verhalen uit de magische tuin (1h 11min.)

Tom, Suzanne, and Derek are staying with Grandpa for the weekend—the first time since Grandma passed away—but her absence is palpable. An unsettling silence now fills the rooms where wondrous stories were once told, driving a wedge between Grandpa and his grandchildren. After all, it was Grandma who brought those magical worlds to life. Determined to ease the sense of loss and comfort Grandpa, eight-year-old Suzanne steps up to take her place. With boundless imagination, she follows in Grandma’s footsteps, transforming the room into a magical setting where animals roam through lush jungles and a flying man traverses the sky. The colorful stop-motion film Tales from the Magical Garden is an adventure for young and old alike—a tribute to the power of imagination and proof that memories live on as long as we keep telling stories.

Tales from the Magical Garden, directed by David Súkup, Jean-Claude Rozec, Leon Vidmar, and Patrik Pass Jr., premiered last year at the Berlinale. It was also selected for festivals including Cinekid and the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Contrechamp Award for Best Film. Its screening at the Noordelijk Film Festival marks its Friesland premiere.
