Beautiful Beings

This touching coming-of-age drama tells the story of Addi, who lives with his eccentric mother in Reykjavik, Iceland. After an incident with his classmate Balli, who is being bullied, he decides to take care of him. Together with two of his best friends, the four youngsters explore their life, which is moving toward adulthood. Beautiful Beings is a poetic portrait of four adolescent boys from troubled backgrounds trying to survive in a harsh masculine society. Remarkably, director Guðmundur Arnar Guðmundsson uses Icelandic nature sparingly whilst filming and instead of focusing on the beautiful Icelandic landscapes, he focuses more on what goes on behind closed doors.
