Noorderkroon Awards 2026
The nominees for the 2026 Noorderkroon Awards have been announced. Filmmakers from the Northern Netherlands are competing for one of the film awards across seven categories. The awards will be presented on the final day of the Noordelijk Film Festival (NoFF), which takes place from November 4 to 8 this year.
The selection
According to programmer Jottum Kok, many of the selected films revolve around characters trying to find their place—whether in relation to others, their surroundings, or the past. “This results in very diverse stories, yet that very personal quest creates a clear connection between the films”.
Opportunities to connect
New this year is that both nominated directors and producers will receive a Talent & Industryp pass. This grants them access to the regular film program and the Industry program during the Noordelijk Film Festival. They can also participate in various networking activities, including the ‘Reverse Pitches’ and the T&I Networking Lunch on Saturday, November 7.
With this expansion, Noorderkroon aims not only to provide a platform for filmmakers to showcase their work but also to encourage them to expand their professional networks and forge new collaborations.
Noorderkroon awards
Noorderkroon serves as both a showcase and a competition for professional, student, and amateur films created by filmmakers from Friesland, Groningen, and Drenthe, or films focused on this region. This year’s selection features a diverse range of stories, including a remarkably high number of Frisian-language productions. The various categories and their respective selections are listed below.
