Weightless

Fifteen-year-old Lea spends the summer at a waste camp in beautiful surroundings, determined to work on herself. She longs to be like Sasha, her new roommate and friend: thin, fearless and lively. 

While Sasha flirts freely with the local boys, Lea's attention is focused on camp counsellor Rune, but what starts as an innocent crush takes a turn when he reciprocates her attention and crosses a line. By showing this confusing transition and its impact on Lea exclusively from her own perspective, Weightless paints a poignant portrait of a teenager's vulnerability and how she carries a traumatic experience with her when she eventually returns home.

Weightless is the directorial debut of Emilie Thalund and was awarded a New Directors Award at the 73rd San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain last September, where it saw its world premiere. The screening at the Noordelijk Film festival is the Dutch premiere of this extraordinary film.
