El 47

Barcelona, 1978. We follow the determined bus driver Manolo Vital, who is fed up with poor communities in the suburbs being neglected by the city council. The local government stubbornly insists that the Torre Baró neighborhood is inaccessible to public transport because of its narrow, unsafe streets. To prove them wrong, Manolo has only one option: he hijacks bus line 47 and drives up the mountain. With this rebellious act - a true David versus Goliath battle - he proves the authorities wrong. El 47 is a feel-good film based on true events about a man who single-handedly changed the city of Barcelona forever. At the same time, it is a tribute to the collective resilience of immigrant communities who stand up for the neighborhoods they have built with their own hands. 

El 47 by director Marcel Barrena was the closing film of the Amsterdam Spanish Film Festival this spring and is a huge success in Spanish cinemas. It was nominated for no fewer than fourteen Goya Awards, winning five, and nineteen Gaudí Awards, winning seven. Please note: the film will only be screened once at the Noordelijk Film Festival.
