In the spring of 1986, the Chernobyl disaster hits the world, but in a small town in western Finland, love blossoms. 15-year-old Mariia becomes enchanted by new classmate Mimi, whose social character is built on a past full of pain. Their glorious summer meetings on the beach and the confidential conversations give Mariia a sense of freedom and adventure, regardless of the social inequality between them - and the looming nuclear cloud that passes over the treetops.

Twenty years later, Mariia returns to her hometown to care for her ailing mother, and memories of her first love come back to life. Inari Niemi brings the spirit of the 1980s to life in this moving coming-of-age film, full of destructive thoughts and a melancholic soundtrack. As the world changes around them, the dance between youthful love and maturity is unforgettable and full of tenderness, but also with an inescapable undertone of impermanence.
