What if going slow means the same as standing still? What if your needs don't align with your partner's? It happens to Elena when she falls head over heels in love with Dovydas. It is as if they have known each other for a long time - and yet the bond that develops between them is like something they have never experienced before. As they grow closer and closer to each other, they begin to explore their own form of intimacy.

In this romantic drama, Lithuanian director Marija Kavtaradze explores the themes of (a)sexuality and intimacy between two people in a relationship that transcends stereotypes and expectations. Kavtaradze does this with remarkable tenderness, sensitivity and understanding of her protagonists and their feelings. Slow premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, where it was enthusiastically received by both jury and audience, and where Kavtaradze then won the Directing Award.
