When words fall short, there might be the need to express yourself through music. For fourteen years, filmmakers Jørgen Leth and Andreas Koefoed followed Danish guitarist and composer Jakob Bro on his musical encounters with eccentric, contemporary jazz heroes like Lee Konitz, Bill Frisell and Midori Takada. They are fanatics for whom music is more than an interplay of sounds - music is emotion, breath, love, grief, it is what they need to live. Through Bro's compositions, the documentary Music for Black Pigeons takes the musicians on a patient journey of discovery for answers to the sometimes hard-to-answer questions, which are calmly found in words and sounds.
