Masterclass Gjermund S. Eriksen

For the first time, a new international drama series will premiere at the Northern Film Festival: the Norwegian series Furia. The writer and producer (or 'creator') of the series Gjermund S. Eriksen, will be a guest at the festival, courtesy of the Norwegian Embassy. After the screening of the first two episodes of Furia, Eriksen will be interviewed extensively in this free masterclass at 17:00. Together with New Noardic Wave, we invite you to come and listen or ask all your questions to this international and award-winning professional!

Gjermund Stenberg Eriksen comes from Mysen, a small town south of Norway's capital Oslo. He studied English literature, language and culture at the University of Oslo before joining the Institute for Cultural Studies. After ten years in communications, the Norwegian broadcaster NRK picked up his script for Mammon (2014) and he was finally able to throw himself wholeheartedly into a career as a screenwriter. Mammon became an incredibly successful series and won an International Emmy Award. The film was also given a remake under the name Pakt in Poland. After Mammon, Eriksen made the light-hearted legal series Aber Bergen (2016), and together with Shaun Henrik Matheson others realised one of Norway's biggest political podcasts, 'Trump mot verden' (Trump vs the world), about the political drama in the White House. In 2020, Eriksen produced the comic noir series Livstad, commissioned by the NRK. This year it is time for his latest series, Furia. A thriller series about the fight against right-wing extremism in Europe's increasingly polarising political climate.
