Film & Food: Le pot-au-feu

A sensory film to savour: Le pot-au-feu is this year’s addition to the Film & Food programme of the Northern Film Festival.

Between dishes, feast on the budding romance between Eugenie and Dodin. The respective chef and famous restaurant owner have been searching for the perfect dish together for years. During all those days they spend in the hot, French kitchen, a special love blossoms. But despite their delightful love, Eugenie does not want to marry Dodin - until one day he cooks for her.

Le pot-au-feu is set in the rich world of 19th-century French gastronomy. Vietnamese-French director Trần Anh Hùng turned this culinary costume drama into a calm and patient film - qualities that are also beautifully carried in the camera work. For this, the director received the award for Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival.
