Lulk

Lulk (Frisian for ‘angry’) tells the story of Durk de Vries (Lourens van den Akker). While he spends his days working on luxury yachts, his debts are piling up at home. Out of desperation, he robs a bank. What follows is a confrontation between different strata of society.
The film is bilingual (Frisian and Dutch) and addresses topical themes such as the widening gap between rich and poor. It takes a gritty approach yet leaves plenty of room for humor. A remarkable dynamic emerges inside the bank branch between the desperate robber and characters such as the pragmatic bank manager (Thom Hoffman) and the deadpan Frisian driver (Oele Plop).
Producent Klaas Bies will be present at the screening for a Q&A after the film.
