Never Alone

This compelling historical drama tells the long-silenced story of the deportation of Jews in Finland during the Second World War. It is 1942 in Helsinki, and Finland is an ally of Nazi Germany. Jewish refugees seek safety in Finland, but then Jewish community leader Abraham Stiller discovers that the Finnish security services plan to hand the refugees over to the Gestapo.

Stiller suddenly finds himself confronting his own government, and the clock is ticking. What follows is a treacherous game of politics and loyalty, in which Stiller risks everything to protect his community and save innocent lives. Based on true events, Never Alone pays tribute to the determined Stiller, who stood up against injustice as a beacon of hope, proving that one man can make a difference.  

Never Alone, from Golden Globe-nominated director Klaus Härö, premiered earlier this year at the 36th Palm Springs International Film Festival in California, where it won the Best of the Fest award, and was a hit with audiences at festivals in Sedona and Germany. The film was also screened at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and, closer to home, at the Internationales Film Fest Emden-Norderney.
