When the Light Breaks
On a long summer day in Reykjavik, young art student Una's life is turned upside down by a tragic accident: she loses her boyfriend Diddi, with whom she was having an affair. As the colours of the horizon fade into the dim beauty of dusk, Una struggles with the hidden grief that threatens to shatter her existence.
Klara, Diddi's childhood girlfriend, expresses her grief openly, while Una silently tries to hide her pain. In a world where friendship, love and infidelity are intertwined, Una has to give her emotions a place. With the support of those around her, she begins to understand that celebrating memories can help her slowly glue everything back together.
Director Rúnar Rúnarsson is no stranger to the Northern Film Festival. His films Volcano (2011), Sparrows (2015) and Echo (2019) were featured at previous editions of the festival. In 2011 and 2019, Rúnarsson was even a guest in Leeuwarden. The film Solitude, which he wrote, is also shown at this year's festival.
