It takes few words to feel welcome in the complex inner world of 19-year-old Carl. Originally South Korean, Carl lives with his adoptive parents on a farm in Denmark. It is a quiet life with plenty of routine, any day is like any other. Carl helps his father milk and feed the cows and clean the stables, tasks which are expected from him to take over completely one day. But Carl feels less and less at home in the place where he grew up. The loneliness of being different and shuttling between two cultures creeps up on Carl silently. With a calming pace and magical, almost absurdist elements, director Malene Choi, herself born in South Korea, effortlessly conveys Carl's almost nostalgic longing to the familiar unknown to the viewer.
