The Outrun

In this film adaptation of Amy Liptrots bestseller of the same name, Rona (an Oscar-worthy performance by Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird, Little Women)) leaves the chaos of London behind and returns to the breathtaking Scottish Orkney Islands to find herself again.

After ten years in the hectic city, where alcohol and drugs rule her life, Rona decides it is time to change the course of her life. Returning to the rather lonely islands of her childhood, she comes face to face with the memories she thought she had fled. As she surrenders to the overwhelming landscape, the winds and the sea guide Rona on her road to recovery.

The Outrun, by director Nora Fingscheidt (System Crasher), is a poignant journey into the essence of oneself. Because sometimes you have to cross the sea and face the storms to reach the other side.
