Tasty

In this Lithuanian feelgood film by director Eglė Vertelytė, best friends Ona and Saulė long for something better than their jobs as cooks in a colourless canteen. When they sign up for a popular TV cooking show, fibbing a little about their experience, they miraculously end up in the competition and, totally unprepared, take on the country's best chefs. The grand prize? Their own restaurant. 

Against all odds, Ona and Saulė manage to surprise the jury and the audience with their simple dishes, but behind the scenes, there is plenty of manipulation going on. In the tasty glitter world of television and haute cuisine, the competition becomes increasingly exciting and an unexpected romance puts the friendship between Ona and Saulė to the test. A humorous ode to friendship, peppered with sharp observations and a fresh take on the world of cooking shows. 

The charming film Tasty premiered at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. Director Eglė Vertelytė also wrote the screenplay. For her debut Miracle (2017), also a comedy, Vertelytė received no fewer than five awards at the Lithuanian Film Awards in 2018.
