Silence of the Tides

The Wadden Sea is alive. In Silence of the Tides, Dutch film maker Pieter-Rim de Kroon captures the elusive breathing of this unique nature reserve. The film is a visual masterpiece, in which the tides play the leading role, showing nature in all its raw splendour. Without words, but with endless patience, the director shows us how the landscape is constantly changing, sometimes savage and unrelenting, at other times calm and serene.

Silence of the Tides is not a new title to regular festival-goers; in fact, it was the opening film of the Northern Film Festival in 2020. As part of the ‘Wadleven’ programme, the film will be screened twice more. With its stunning cinematography and eye for detail, it is a timeless tribute to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Wadden Sea.
