Némos andando per mare

In this exceptional, fairytale-like reinterpretation of Homer's Odyssey, a shepherd falls asleep during an improvisational poetry competition in modern-day Sardinia. In his dreams, he embarks on an imaginary journey that leads him to farmers, craftsmen, fishermen, and sailors, all grappling with a constantly changing world and the inevitable aging process.
Némos andando per mare is set on a Mediterranean island. Close to, but at the same time far removed from everything that is familiar, modernity seems to have mercilessly overtaken these Sardinians. Yet, the shepherd, hero of his own story, continues to search for the power of tradition and the art of storytelling.Némos andando per mare is an ethno-mythological-surrealist film intertwining fiction and reality, drawing on millennia of Sardinian material and immaterial heritage. Together, the local actors, performing in guided improvisation and speaking in the Sardinian language, create a bittersweet, epic tale that is both modern and universal.
