Hollywood on the Wadden: Opportunities for Language, Economy, and Tourism

The Northern Film Festival and CineNord continue the conversation about the power of regional film. This year, we zoom in on the effects of a thriving regional film industry on language, economy and tourism. Last year, the study ‘Hollywood on the Wadden’ was presented and showed how regional film industries flourish in other European countries. As inspiration for a thriving and vibrant film industry in the Northern Netherlands. 

Our guests are:

• Deborah Castro (RUG) Expert on the impact of film on tourism, and part of expertise centre FIHETO.
• Nils Gaup, pioneer of the Sámi film industry, the Riot is screening at this year's festival.
• Suvi West, Sámi filmmaker, whose latest film Homecoming will also be screened at the festival.
• Silvan Hillman, Swiss producer of successful films in the Schwiitzertüütsche dialect.
• Marc Nollkamper, director, and writer of the folkhorror Witte Wieven, spoken in old Lower Saxon.

Filmmaker and programmer Jordi Wijnalda is also this year's moderator of the day.
