Butterflies

In the middle of a bright Finnish summer, a warm and comical father-daughter story unfolds. Siiri, a 29-year-old millennial with big ambitions, wants nothing more than to be promoted as an advisor to the Minister of Economy. But while trying to control the chaos of her erratic boss, she gets help from her father Petri, an ever-optimistic tango artist has-been. He means well, but is his help really what she needs? After all, Petri has quite a few problems; for instance, he does not have a penny to his name and is basically homeless. 

As misunderstandings pile up, a whirlwind of hilarity and emotion ensues. Siiri balances like an acrobat between her boss's marital problems and her father's increasingly dark secrets. With light-hearted humour and a pinch of drama, Butterflies, Jenni Toivoniemi's second feature debut, explores the sometimes complicated dynamics between parents and children - and the bond that never really breaks.
