Architecton, the final part of director Viktor Kossakovsky's ‘A-trilogy’, connects the use of concrete (after water the most widely used material in the world) with the themes he previously explored in Aquarela and ¡Vivan las antipodas!.

Through breathtaking slow-motion images, in which rocks and stones flow through the image like rivers, Kossakovsky creates a visual symphony that reveals the power and beauty of these materials. Accompanied by the mesmerising music of Evgueni Galperine, the film takes us from the ancient temple ruins in Baal to war-ravaged buildings in Ukraine and earthquake-damaged Turkey. The raw reality of quarries, where building materials are mined by force, is also shown in vivid detail.

This unique documentary is a poetic and intimate exploration of architecture, and forces us to think about the relationship between man and nature. It raises the urgent question: how can we keep building and do it better before it is too late?
