Amélie Live in Concert

Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain, better known as Amélie, follows the quirky Amélie Poulain (a delightful role played by Audrey Tautou) in the Montmartre district of Paris. Home-schooled and isolated but with a rich imagination, Amélie finds her way to adulthood. Life is simple for the now 23-year-old waitress at the eccentric Café des 2 Moulins, but when she discovers a metal box behind a baseboard in her bathroom, Amélie's life changes. Fascinated, she embarks on a quest to find the owner of the box, and in the meantime, she makes it her goal to do as much good as possible for her fellow human beings. Director Jean-Pierre Jeunet paints a romantic portrait of loneliness, wonder, and the happiness that lies in the smallest moments.

This colorful French classic drew full houses worldwide in 2001 and was awarded BAFTAs, Césars, and no fewer than five Oscar nominations. Amélie was the opening film of the Noordelijk Film Festival at the time and returns to this anniversary edition with live musical accompaniment by The James Whale Orchestra. After a series of sold-out film concerts, the 23-piece chamber orchestra is coming to the north for the first time for a spectacular performance of Yann Tiersen's renowned soundtrack.

Ticket sales for Amélie until October 22 at 12:00 p.m. via this link.
