Noordelijk Film Festival concludes grandly with Amélie live in concert
LEEUWARDEN The Noordelijk Film Festival is ending this year with a bang. The French film classic Amélie will be the closing film of the 45th edition of the festival on November 9, in a very special way: with live music by The James Whale Orchestra. It is the only screening of Amélie Live in Concert in Friesland. NoFF is organizing this program in collaboration with Stadsschouwburg De Harmonie.
Artistic director Henriëtte Poelman explains: “Amélie was the opening film and audience favorite at the festival in 2001. Almost a quarter of a century later, we are bringing our 45th edition to a festive close with a spectacular live performance featuring music by The James Whale Orchestra.”
The 23-piece chamber orchestra had a sold-out first tour last year and is now coming to the north for the first time for a live performance of Yann Tiersen’s renowned soundtrack. “Our Sounds & Cinema program line to the max, with this enchanting closing event,” says Poelman.
Advance ticket sales for Amélie
Tickets for Amélie Live in Concert will be available from September 24 via www.noordelijkfilmfestival.nl. The rest of the program will be announced by NoFF on October 8. Regular ticket sales will then start on October 22.
45th edition: Light Makers and Night Watchers
The Noordelijk Film Festival will take place from November 5 to 9. With the theme Light Makers and Night Watchers, the festival aims to “shine a light in a time when there is so much darkness.” “We reflect on the night, when light has the most meaning. Somewhere, no matter how small it may be. We keep the light on in the darkness, with film as inspiration and the festival as a connection: the Northern Film Festival gives light,” reads part of the explanation of the theme. More information can be found on the festival website.
