In this short film, we see landscapes, time-lapse shots, stop-motions and composite edits of the Wadden. Filmmaker Dirk Lentz moved from Dokkum to the south of the Netherlands when he was six, but the Wadden left a fundamental sentiment with him. In this graduation film by Lentz, the experience of time and influences from nature are played with. This way he gives shape to the constant flow of influences he experiences in his life. Influences such as information, beliefs and standards come and go, but always offer development. During States of Mind, you discover a mystical world formed by water and wind. You experience tranquillity, over-stimulation, beauty and witness the creation of a world of experience.

Omschrijving
The otter. A graceful, playful but timid aquatic animal that rarely shows itself and had even disappeared in the Netherlands in 1988. Fish traps, poor water quality, loss of habitat and increasing traffic were fatal to the otter. A legend that lived on only in the names places and family names. But the otter is back. After 14 years of investment in nature restoration, the first otters were released in Overijssel. The population is growing steadily and spreading throughout the Netherlands. By now, even the city canals of Groningen have become part of the habitat of this freshwater ambassador. The unique footage in the documentary De otter, een legende keert terug shows how the otter hunts for food, how they play and even how a mother otter gives her young its first swimming lesson. Filmmaker Hilco Jansma found a beautiful backdrop in the Dutch nature.
