The Riot

At the start of the 20th century, the mining town of Sulitjelma, also known as Sulis, becomes the battleground for a fierce struggle. Led by the brave Konrad, the workers rise up against the ruthless mine owner Wennstrøm. Life in the dark and dangerous mines, where workers are treated like slaves, has become unbearable. Tensions rise and revolt is inevitable. The Riot captures how this forgotten corner of Norway became the Wild West of the North, where oppression and brutal exploitation reigned until the oppressed fought for their rights.

Directed by Oscar-nominated Nils Gaup (The Last King, 2016), this epic historical action drama brings to life a powerful story of rebellion and justice. Featuring stellar performances from Otto Fahlgren and Simon J. Berger, The Riot (original title: Upproret) is not just a tale of conflict, but a pivotal chapter in the history of workers' rights in Norway.
