Power Play (serie)

Power Play is a political drama series based on true lies and bad memories. In 1970s Norway, the labour party has ruled for decades. Internally, however, things are not going quite right. Besides some internal conflicts, they have a problem: the lack of women in government. When they decide to put a young woman on the environment ministerial post - a position that nobody really takes seriously - it turns out to be a bad move for the party perhaps, but a very good one for the Norwegian government. The professionalism of the woman, Gro Harlem Brundtland, is seen by a lot of party member as a threat. But the more her colleagues conspire to keep her out of power, the harder Gro strikes back.

Among the chock-full film programme, is this gem of a series. In fact, every year the Northern Film Festival highlights a new, promising Nordic series, with this year's spotlight on Power Play.
