Nico, 1988

Susanna Nicchiarelli's Nico, 1988 is a mesmerising biopic that focuses on the final years of iconic singer Nico, best known for The Velvet Underground. Trine Dyrholm shines in the role of Nico, and her powerful portrayal brings to life the complexities of the legendary artist. The film follows Nico's European tour in the late 1980s, as she struggles with her past, her image and her musical career. 

Nicchiarelli avoids clichés and instead shows a raw, intimate look at Nico's life. Nico, 1988 won the Orizzonti prize for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival and has been praised for its bold approach to the biopic. This is a moving film about fame, loss and the search for identity.
